Shri Varaha Temple is situated on the banks of the holy river Ganges near the Daksh Temple in Haridwar. This temple is famous for its miracles and history. It is believed that the idol of Shri Varaha, incarnation of Shri Vishnu established in this Temple is ancient and mystical. In this Temple, Shri Vishnu is worshipped in the Varaha Avatar, where his head is in the form of a boar and his body is in the form of a human. When Shri Vishnu in the form of Varaha Avatar killed the demon king Hiranyaksha, Shri Varaha brought back the Earth (Maa Varahi), which was submerged in water by the demon, on his tooth. During that time, Haridwar was right at the tip of the tooth of Shri Varaha. Therefore, the Puja performed in this temple in Haridwar pilgrimage is considered very auspicious and rewarding.
