About Shaktipeeth Shri Varahi Devi Temple, Uttarakhand
      Heading pattern

The third incarnation of Lord Vishnu is Lord Varaha. And Mata Varahi is considered his fierce feminine form. When the demon Hiranyaksha hid the earth in the abyss, then Lord Vishnu saved the earth by taking the incarnation of Varaha. This earth or Bhumi was the form of Mata Varahi. And with her energy the energy of Lord Varaha doubled and Lord Varaha saved mankind by destroying Hiranyaksha. Maa Varahi holds a significant place among Sapta Matrikas or Seven Mother Goddesses. In many holy books, she has also been considered as the form of Maa Lakshmi. There are few famous temples of Maa Varahi in India. Among them, Shri Varahi Temple of Devidhura in Uttarakhand is a Shaktipeeth where the teeth of Maa Sati had fallen. The idol of the Mother Goddess holds immense energy such that no one can look directly into her eyes. Therefore, her idol is kept in a glass and copper box from where the Devotees can see her. Lord Varaha is also worshiped in this temple along with Maa Varahi. As Maa Varahi is the commander-in-chief of Maa Tripura Sundari, therefore, Devotees always come here to worship before war, competition, elections or to gain victory in any task in life. Shri Krishna himself sent the Pandavas for Yagya here before the Mahabharat war. As Maa Varahi is the commander-in-chief of Maa Tripura Sundari, therefore, Devotees always come here to worship before war, competition, elections or to gain victory in any task in life. Shri Krishna himself sent the Pandavas for Yagya here before the Mahabharat war. In ancient times, a game Bagwal was used to be played here, in which two sides fight and please the Mother Goddess with their blood, but now Bagwal is being played with flowers. Traditions have changed here, but the energy and radiance of Maa Varahi in this Shaktipeeth is eternal and always inspire the Devotees to move forward despite the struggles of their life.
