Vaishno Devi Tirtha Kshetra is a major and extensive pilgrimage site dedicated to Maa Vaishno Devi. It is located in the Trikuta Hills within the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir in India. This place is recognized as one of the Shaktipeethas dedicated to Maa Durga. Maa Vaishno Devi is believed to be the incarnation of Kali, Saraswati and Lakshmi. A geological study of the holy cave of Mata has indicated its age to be about one lakh years. The Rigveda also mentions Trikuta Hill, the place where the temple is located. Every temple here has some story or the other. Therefore, conducting worship in any temple of this pilgrimage area pleases Maa Vaishno Devi. The worship of Maa Vaishno Devi is mentioned in the Mahabharata. It is said that before the Kurukshetra war, Arjuna worshiped the goddess on the advice of Lord Krishna for blessings. Pleased with his devotion, the goddess appeared in front of him in the form of Maa Vaishno Devi and blessed him with victory. The antiquity of Vaishno Devi shrine predates the Mahabharata. Worshiping here during Navaratri or special days dedicated to the mother goddess is considered extremely auspicious and fruitful.
