Dharmapathi is an area in Tirunelveli district of Tamil Nadu, historically known as the Adhinarayana Sthal and an important spiritual center from the Treta Yuga. The site is significant as it is associated with the salvation of Jatayu, done by Shri Rama. The place is considered holy due to its energy associated with both Shiva and Rama. This Temple was established on land obtained with the blessings of Mayandi Siddhar. It was initially built as a simple hut and later it grew into a grand temple. The main deity here, the eight-lettered Perumal, is represented in a six-foot tall idol made of sandalwood, adorned in silver attire and seated in a majestic manner. The deity inside the Sanctum Sanctorum is Lord Shiva, who is represented by the Sadashiva Lingam which includes the aspects of Sadashiva, Maheshwara and Rudra. The artha mandapam is flanked by Lakshmana on the right and Mata Sita on the left. The temple's front portion depicts Lord Ganapati with his conch, chakra and Nandi on the right, while Lord Subramanya is shown with the deity on the left. Also, the temple depicts Lord Anjaneya emerging from the fire wheel and serving Lord Ashta-akshara Perumal in the form of Lord Rama. Here, Lord Shiva is worshipped by offering grains. It is believed that by doing so, Shiva becomes pleased and blesses the devotees to remain healthy throughout their lives and the food stores in the devotees' house never become empty.
