Somnath Tirth is the same holy place where Chandra Dev or Moon worshipped Shivji. It is believed that Chandra Dev got cursed by Raja Daksha after Chandra Dev got married to his his 27 daughters, who are 27 Nakshatras or Constellations. Chandra Dev receive curse from Raja Daksha, that its shine will diminish and size will decrease, till it will become invisible. Chandra Dev was advised by Brahma to worship Shivji at Somnath Tirth Kshetra. Chandra Dev meditated and worshipped Shivji at Somnath Tirth. Thereafter, Chandra Dev got back his shine.
