The city of Kashi is a holy place - a Sadhana Bhoomi for Devotees seeking penance, spiritual guidance and salvation. Similarly, Chausathi Mata Temple or 64 Yogini Temple, situated at Chausathi Ghat is a great place for Sadhana, Puja and Penance. This Siddha Peeth also is also well known as Tantra Peeth. It is said that 64 Yoginis were sent here by Lord Shiva. But, when they came to Kashi, they liked this place so much that they settled here forever without any desire to return. According to some legends, the king of Kashi - Divodas asked Shivji to leave Kashi. Shivji left this holy place, but this made 64 Yoginis angry and they went to attack Divodas. However, due to Maa Parvati, 64 Yoginis calmed down and they started praying to Shivji to settle here in Kashi permanently. Seeing this, Maa Parvati allowed 64 Yogini to stay in Kashi forever and since then, this Temple of 64 Yoginis is famous as Siddha Peeth. It is said that the Siddha puja performed here pleases not only the 64 Yoginis but also Mata Parvati and Shivji. Devotees wishes are always fulfilled here.
