Prachin Lakshmi-Vishnu Temple, situated on the banks of Lakshmi Kund, Varanasi is one of the most ancient Temples in Varanasi. One can also find the reference of Mahalakshmi Puja in this Temple in the Puranas. It is believed that the Devotees have been worshipping Maa Lakshmi in this Temple for thousands of years for Fulfilment of Wishes, Progeny, Health, Wealth and Prosperity. In addition to the idol of Shri Vishnu, the beautiful trinity idol of Maa Lakshmi, Maa Saraswati and Maa Kali is also present here. One can also find the reference of this Mahalakshmi Temple and Lakshmi Kund in the 70th Adhyaya of Kashi Khand. It is believed that out of 64 Yoginis sent by Lord Shiva, a Yogini named Mayuri was assigned to be the Guardian and Protector of this Kund.
