Gauri Kedareshwar Temple at Kedar Ghat in Kedar Khand, Kashi is a very ancient, mystical and important Temple. This Temple is dedicated to Shiva and Maa Parvati. This Temple is believed to be located on the Trident of Shivji with Kashi Vishwanath in Vishnu Khand and Omkareshwar Temple in Omkar Khand in Kashi. There is Gauri Kund in front of the Temple, which is often filled up with water during the Sawan and devotees take a dip in its holy water for treatment of their ailments. According to some Vedic Scholars, Maa Sati earrings fell at this place and therefore Gauri Kund is also referred as Adi Manikarnika Shaktipeeth. This Temple in Kashi is said to be a replica of Kedarnath in the Himalayas. The Shivalinga located in the Garbhgrah inside this Temple is Swayambhu or Shivalinga, the importance of which is similar to Kedarnath Jyotrilinga of Uttarakhand. It is believed that the Devotees who are unable to visit Kedarnath Jyotirlinga in the Himalayas due to illness or any other reason, can visit this Temple in Kedar Khand, Kashi and perform special Puja, Offerings to receive the fruits equivalent to those from Kedarnath Yatra.
