Shri Brihaspati Mandir holds a special significance and owns a special place in Kashi, the city of Mahadev. There is a fascinating story of Mangal, Shani and Guru in the first part of Kashi Khand of Skanda Purana. Lord Shiva was worshipped here by Rishi Angiras. Pleased by his devotion, Shiva blessed Rishi Angiras with a special place in the Navagrahas and named him Brihaspati or Guru. Since then, Lord Shiva have resided here in the form of Brihaspati.
