Srikalahasti is located near Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh. Srikalahasteeswara Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. From the last 2000 years, this place is also known as Dakshin Kailash or Dakshin Kashi. The Tirumala hills are visible on the side of the Temple and the Shikhar Vimana of the temple is constructed in South Indian style in white colour. Mata Gnana Prasunamba is also installed in this temple along with Lord Kalahastishwar here. According to belief, this place was named after three animals тАУ Shri means spider, Kal means snake and Hasti means elephant. It is said that all three of them have received their freedom by worshipping Mahadev Shiva at this place. It is said that the spider had made a web on the Shivalinga during penance, the snake had worshipped the Shivalinga by clinging onto it and the elephant had bathed the Shivalinga with water. Statues of these 3 animals are also installed here. Srikalahasti is also mentioned in ancient texts like Skanda Purana, Shiva Purana and Linga Purana.
