It is believed that Adi Guru Shankaracharya came here to meditate and eventually established 4 Math in Bharat after attaining 'Jyoti' or enlightenment here under the Kalpa Vriksha. Joshimath or Jyotirmath is famous as one of the four famous Math established by Adi Shankaracharya. The idol of Shri Vishnu's Narasimha form is Prana Pratishthit here. There is a temple dedicated to Shri Krishna near the Narsimha temple, which is called Vasuki Temple. It is believed that Lord Shri Hari himself resides here. Joshimath is a place where Lord Vishnu has been invoked for ages to attain Happiness, Prosperity and Success in life.
