Makhoda Dham Tirth is situated very close to the city of Ayodhya, the birthplace of Maryada Purushottam Shri Ram. In Treta Yuga, the sages considered this place to be the best place for Yagya and religious rituals. When Raja Dashrath was not receiving blessings of a child even till his forties, then his family Guru Vashishtha advised him to perform Putra Kameshthi Yagya at Makhoda Dham. Then Raja Dashrath participated in this Yagya performed by Shringi Rishi. After which all the four brothers Ram, Lakshman, Bharat and Shatrughan were born. Since then, the tradition of performing Putra Kameshthi Yagya has started for blessings of a child and child's good future. At present, every year thousands of devotees come here with their problem of progeny and get solution to their problem by performing Putra Kameshti Yagya or Offering Special Chadhava to Shri Ram here.
