Maa Varahi holds a significant place among Sapta Matrikas or Seven Mother Goddesses. She is considered the fierce feminine form of the Varaha Avatar of Shri Vishnu. This Neel Varahi temple is the most prominent Temple among the four Varahi temples dedicated to Maa Varahi in Pashupati Khand of Nepal or Ancient Bharat. Inside this Temple, a Swayambhu Shila represents Maa Neel Varahi herself. There is no roof in this Temple. It is said that during the reign of King Vikram Sen, the Goddess was established here in a tantric way. The idols of Ashtamatrika, Bhairava and others are also established in the premises of Neel Varahi Temple. Many devotees also worship Neel Varahi as Dhan Varahi. A palanquin is prepared from this temple to participate in Sindoor Yatra where an image of Mata Neel Varahi with three eyes and four hands is established. Apart from the profit of land and building, Puja here is considered to be the best for getting wealth, victory over enemies and removal of horoscope doshas.
